Dr. Hanzel Wins Again

Coca-Cola Kickoff Classic

 

Dr. Doug Hanzel won the third annual Coca-Cola Kickoff Classic for the third straight year.  He shot an impressive 70-69 to beat out Scott Melton by four shots.  This gives Dr. Hanzel an early lead in the Skeadas Cup points standings. 

Hal Godwin won the net division of the tournament by shooting an impressive net 66 on the final day to overtake day one leader Dennis Williams.

The competition was fierce in both divisions, and a lot of good golf was played on a course that was set to find the best golfer.


Coca-Cola has been a great sponsor over the past three years.  The people at Coke have been the backbone to the success of this tournament.  Without them, the event could not have the incredible tee gifts and great return for the golfers.

This year Coke provided Coke products, advertising, caps, and Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x balls for all of the competitors.  They also provided shoe bags for the Skeadas Cup participants and towels for the net copmpetitors.  They also help provide some of the gift certificates for prizes.

The Pit, the new restaurant at Black Creek Golf Club, also provided gift certificates for the best rounds shot on Saturday.  The Pit is open to the public and is serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week.  They have cuisine ranging from flat iron steaks, to burgers, salads, and their famous barbecue.  They have a wide variety of wings that include several choices of sauces and their famous smoked wings.

The next Skeadas event is at Forest Heights in April.  We highly encourage golfers of all skill levels to compete in the division that fits their game.
